Research at the OSRC

The Operating System Research Center (OSRC) is AMD's center of excellence for operating systems and a member of AMD's architecture-development community. We conduct research in computer architecture and systems to derive requirements for CPUs and to give feedback to CPU designers, directly influencing future products.

Our research often follows a flow where we identify bottlenecks in current systems and requirements driven by upcoming and future applications; develop proposals for hardware and system modifications addressing these requirements; evaluate these proposals using various tools, such as system prototypes, simulators, and trace analysis; and work with AMD's silicon design organization to see our proposals through to the product stage.
